Village des artistes
Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona
This project was devlop in my 3rd year or architectural school with Professor Patricia Tamayo Perez.
The site is in the middle of an industrial area like an island between two define residential areas. It is the heart of Hospitalet de Llobregat and the old industrial layout is changing to welcome residential buildings.
In terms of pedestrian circulation, the main flow goes on Rambla Marina, from North-West to South-East back and forth. That is why the facade of this project is very important to be permeable so as to achieve to detour the passerby into the site. The facade is lifted. At the corner, the bar/cafeteria is located to continue this flow into the site, being a connector for the Cultural center and the inner core of the project.
The reception will be located at the south-east facade combined with the main entrance, but also an access from Rambla Marina, these two entrances are connected by a large foyer with natural light and ventilation, achieving a generous space to reach all the rehearsal rooms, the theaters and the bar.
Inspired by Sala Beckett, the theater rooms are in the North-West, to prevent the natural light from it. Even though they will have bay windows to provide diffuse sun light if needed. The outdoor stage, in the contrary is in the center, acting like the heart of the project. This stage will welcome music bands, theater plays, dance events and local meetings.
The first floor in the main volume is reserved to accommodate offices, a recoding room, classrooms and the changing room, having showers and toilets in it.
The residential area will be located on top of the theaters, providing a coherent volumetry with the site. Shaped with two facades, aiming to achieve cross ventilation and have south light in all the apartments. The entrance will be placed in the main volume in the far north.
The main goal is to achieve a friendly and comfortable space while keeping the Genius Loci of the place.
